11th Associations Summit and General Assembly Meeting Successful

PCAAE, with the support of the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB), held its 11th Associations Summit (AS11) at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in-person on December 20, 2023 and 11th General Council of Members Meeting via Zoom on December 21, 2023.

AS 11, which attracted 116 participants, featured four (4) parts, namely: Part 1 – Conference and Knowledge Exchange; Part 2 – Business-to-Business (B2B) Exchange; Part 3 – “ANG SUSI” Awards 2023; and Part 4 – 11th General Council of Members Meeting.

The theme for Part 1 was “Associations in the Digital Age: AI, Technology, Operational Efficiency and Sustainability” and was a collaboration between PCAAE and the Analytics & Artificial Intelligence Association of the Philippines (AAP).

AAP provided the content and speakers for this part. The speakers were Michelle Alarcon, President, AAP, Dominic Ligot, CTO & Co-Founder, CirroLytix; Chair of AI Committee, AAP, and Sherwin Pelayo, Executive Director, AAP. For its part, PCAAE were represented by panelists, Enrique I. Florencio, Secretary General of the Association of Development Financing Institutions in Asia & the Pacific (ADFIAP) and Dr. Roberto F. Rañola, Jr., Chairman, Philippine Association of Agriculturists.

For the first time, the Summit featured a B2B exchange where buyers and sellers met to explore business opportunities. There were 30 sellers (hotels, event venues, destination management companies, event organizers) and as many numbers as buyers (associations).

For the “ANG SUSI” Awards 2023, the spotlight went to the outstanding projects of: ASKI Foundation Inc.’s “Kalinga sa Kalikasan, Kabuhayan sa Komunidad (K4) Program” (winner, Environmental Impact category); ASKI Multipurpose Cooperative’s “Happy Earth Enterprise: Providing Livelihood Opportunities through Sustainable Recycling” (merit awardee, Environmental Impact category);
Women’s Club Pangasinan’s “Comprehensive Environmental Protection and Awareness Program” (merit awardee, Environmental Impact category); ASKI Skills and Knowledge Institute, Inc.’s “Developing Human Capital through the Implementation of Comprehensive Management Training Program” (winner, People Empowerment category); FIABCI Philippines International’s “Achievers Circle Award” (merit awardee, People Empowerment category); ASKI Multipurpose Cooperative’s “Establishment of Women-led Community Store in Talavera, Nueva Ecija” (winner, Community Service category); Philippine Retailers Association’s “The Retail Leaders Summit” and Philippine Federation of Real Estate Professionals, Inc.’s “ASEAN Real Estate Summit & Expo” (co-winners, Industry Development category); ASKI Employee Credit Cooperative’s “Development of ASKI Employees Credit Cooperative (AECC) Online Portal” (winner, Technology Innovation category); ASKI Foundation, Inc.’s “Men-at-Work (MAW): From a Program to Becoming a Consumers Cooperative” and Baroy Woman’s Club’s “Musical Hearts” (co-winners, Change Catalyst category).

For the “ANG SUSI” Awards 2023 outstanding individual awards, the winners were: Mr. Reynaldo ‘Rene’ Gener, Executive Director, People Management Association of the Philippines as Association Executive-of-the-Year and Ms. Linda Passi Gonzalez, National President, National Federation of Womens Clubs of the Philippines as Association Board Member-of-the-Year.

The awards presentation was also an occasion to recognize three Lifetime Honorary Members namely, PCAAE Vice Chair Florentino S. Dulalia, Jr., Consul Eunina Mangio, President-elect, Philippine Chamber of Commerce & Industry; and Ms. Vilma R. Ligahon, President/CEO of Riavin Realty Development Corporation.

The 11th General Council of Members Meeting (virtual) covered the: opening remarks of Ms. Gwen Albarracin, PCAAE Chair; approval of the agenda and the Minutes of the 10th General Council of Members Meeting held on November 24, 2022 at 1:00 pm (virtual), induction of new members: Mr. Carlos da Silva, Corporate Secretary and Executive Director, Association of Health Maintenance Organizations of the Philippines (Individual Member) as well as the Human Resource Educators Association of the Philippines (Institutional Member) represented by Mr. Perry David Solosa, President, Ms. Angelita Serrano, Vice President and Mr. Joseph Lardizabal, Executive Director; and the CEO’s Report 2023. The election of additional three seats of the PCAAE Board of Trustees was reset to March 20, 2024.
